Do you have any pictures of the bandstand? We would like any pictures, particularly of the bandstand in use. Some old ones would be very interesting too. Prints can be scanned as can 35mm slides. All would be returned to you.
We would also like to hear your stories. Perhaps when you attended a concert or if you are a group which has used the bandstand in the past.
The picture on the left is the Swanage Town Band in 1948 and was kindly provided to FOSB by Yolande Yates. Yolande also gave a list of the band members which is listed below. Does anyone have a connection with any of those band members in 1948?
Listen to the Swanage Town Band playing at the bandstand by clicking on the link on the right.
(This is a bit of a test so might not work)

The picture shows an additional roof detail adjacent to each pillar lost at some point in time. These are on the original design drawings for this model of bandstand and show the importance of examining old pictures of the bandstand.

Crowning of the Carnival Queen?
What year was this?
Does anyone have more information or pictures of the event?

The Bandstand has clearly played a focal point in past events. With its location and being covered the restored Bandstand can again play its part in Swanage events and activities.

Different times!

What year was this? The Bikini had arrived!

Does anyone have more information or pictures of the event?

This picture was apparently taken by an American GI prior to the D Day landings. Was this a unit stationed in Swanage? Any more information?
The ground nearby looks very uneven. Were there wartime defences in place?
